WORLD POPULATION DAY & FORTNIGHT CELEBRATION BY DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY,  HIMSR (27/6/24 TO 24/7/24) REPORT

Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in association with Reproductive & Maternal Health, South-East Delhi and NARCHI, Delhi conducted various IEC activities (total 9) to create awareness about the reproductive health and choices available to manage it to the general population to celebrate “World Population Day & Fortnight,2024” as detailed activities mentioned below.

Free haemoglobin check-up camp for anaemia screening on 27/6/24 & 1/7/24

To mark the commencement of this fortnight occasion, department organized an anaemia screening programme on 27/6/2024 & 1/7/2024 for all the women attending gynae OPD where free haemoglobin check-up was done.

A total of 200 women were screened for anaemia and categorized into women with normal Hb and mild/ moderate/ severe anaemia. Out of total, 146 women were found to have normal Hb, 36 women had mild anaemia, 17 women had moderate anaemia and one was severely anaemic.  Deworming was done for all the women with Hb less than 11gm% and oral/ injectable preparations were given according to the requirement. These women were advised to follow up after 2-3 weeks with repeat Hb report.

This programme helped screening and identifying women who needed further assessment and therapeutic dosage of iron in injectable/oral iron preparations.

Public forum on contraceptive methods on 3/7/24

To create the awareness among the community about all the available methods of contraception, Public forum cum play was performed by undergraduate and postgraduate students with full of enthusiasm.

Around 70-80 people were addressed by our HOD regarding importance of contraceptive methods. It ended with a very informative and useful interactive discussion with the eligible couple.

PPIUCD/IUCD insertion training programme on 13/7/2024

Postpartum and interval IUCD insertion programme was conducted by the department on 13/7/24. Around 30 participants including nursing staff, paramedics and interns were trained by providing hands-on over the simulators.

Everybody participated actively, learnt the technique and asked their queries.

Painting Competition for nursing staff on 19/7/2024

It was organized by the department on theme “Healthy timing & spacing pregnancy for well-being of mother and child”. 25 nursing staff from different departments actively participated including male nurses also. This event was judged by Dr Sangeeta Yadav, Dr Arifa Anwar, Dr Nidhi Gupta, Dr Shyambhavi and Nursing superintendent Ms Seema Wilson.

Winners were given cash prizes and certificates. Participation certificates were given to all the participants.

Skit competition for undergraduate (MBBS) students on 22/7/24

We conducted one skit competition on theme “Family Planning and Contraception” which was actively participated by around 30 undergraduate students in various teams. Each and every team presented beautiful small informative skits and performed really well.  It was judged by Dr Farzana, Dr Sumedha and Dr Sana. 3 prizes were given along  with participation certificates to all the participants.

Hence, the whole fortnight was concluded with this exciting event and leaving an impact over the general population.

Free haemoglobin check-up and BMD estimation camp on 22nd, 23rd ,24th July 2024

All the patients and their family member were tested for the anaemia and BMD to emphasize the importance of healthy diet and regular Iron and calcium intake from 22nd to 24 July 2024.
