DRY RUN REPORT
The Department of Community Medicine, HIMSR, New Delhi organized the dry run of COVID 19 vaccination on 6th January and 8th January, 2021. This was organized by Prof Farzana Beg, HOD Community Medicine, Dr. Aqsa Shaikh, Associate Professor and Nodal Officer (COVID-19 vaccination Programme) HIMSR along with Dr. Sunita Lakra, Medical Officer, South East district, New Delhi, under the guidance of District Health Society. The dry run was arranged to identify potential errors in the vaccination program and to prevent the same from occurring when COVID-19 vaccination is launched.
For the dry run of COVID 19 vaccination, a mock drill over 25 beneficiaries for each day was observed. They were selected from the pool of the health care worker data available with the District Administration. The layout of the vaccination site consisted of three rooms – a waiting area, a vaccination room and an observation room. The beneficiaries came to Vaccination Officer, who verified them from the beneficiary list provided and gave them a token number mentioning the time of entry into the waiting room. The beneficiaries were then called in a sequential manner to the registration area where their details were cross checked and ID proof was verified through CoWin website. They were then sent to the vaccination room where after the administration of vaccine, four key messages regarding the precautions & the next visit, i.e., after 28 days was informed. Finally, the beneficiaries were sent to the observation room where they were observed for 30 minutes. Reporting and managing of AEFI was also found feasible in our immunization site.
The supervisory visit was done by District Administrative Officer of South East Delhi which included Mr. S.C. Meena (Additional District Magistrate), Mr. Pulkit (Nodal Officer), Dr. Aditya Kumar (Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kalkaji), Dr. Geeta (Chief District Medical Officer), Dr. Dharmendra (District Medical Officer), Mrs. Lalbormoy (Tehsildar, Kalkaji).
