The Department of Biochemistry at the Hamdard Institute of Medical Science and Research and associated HAHC Hospital, Jamia Hamdard, actively involved in laboratory services and teaching, training, and research, involving over 150 students each year.
Students in the department include those in undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses. The courses taught include MBBS, M. Sc. Medical Biochemistry, BSc MLT, BSc nursing, post-basic BSc nursing, BPT and other allied courses. The teaching activities include conducting lectures and practical exercises for the undergraduate medical (MBBS), M. Sc. Medical Biochemistry and other allied health courses. The department innovates constantly to teach students in these courses as effectively as possible and we employ innovative teaching techniques such as Problem Based Learning, OSPEs, OSCEs and Tutorials etc.
The faculty is involved in research activities and working on different medical conditions that aim is to contribute to a better understanding of such problems, which is essential to tackle them more effectively.
The clinical laboratory of the department has the facility to conduct specialized tests for hormones, vitamins, and basic metabolic screening in labs that have the latest automated chemistry and Immunoassay analyzers. Currently, there are 7 faculty members and 12 staff members working in the department.
